She Can't Half Talk

She Can't Half Talk

So: a foetus, a cougar, a camera girl, a drag queen, an actor and a victim walk into a bar…

Here strings together an intriguing and peculiar timeline of how gender and sexuality puncture everyday lives, in the most bizarre, humorous and touching manner. With a series of six monologues, with three per performance, the audience treads further down the linear route of time, and are shown how the effects of gender change and redefine. Each character brings something new to the societal table – their fears, their loves, their hopes to come and their experiences past. In this delightfully fresh production you will find yourself feeling entirely displaced at moments - only to find a kindred spirit in the writing the next.

The Edinburgh University Theatre Company has been responsible for fostering some of the UK's best new female playwrights in recent years, counting Ella Hickson (The Writer, ANNA) and Lucy Kirkwood (Chimerica, The Children) in their recent alumni. Writer/Director Sally MacAlister has been writing for theatre for the past four years, having been engaged in the EUTC's Candlewasters new writing programmme. After a successful term-time run in Edinburgh, She Can't Half Talk is her first Fringe production.

She Can't Half Talk is co-produced by Panharmonium, an arts collective with over five years of Edinburgh Festival experience.
