Dramatising the conflicting attractions of freedom and belonging, compromise and self-assertion, Pilgrims interrogates our inherited assumptions about gender, storytelling and humanity’s relationship with the natural world.

How far do we all remain trapped in narratives beyond our own making?

What might it cost us to escape these?
