The play revolves around two bourgeois families, the Malingears and the Ratinois, who are negotiating the marriage of their children. Both families, though relatively ordinary, try to outdo each other by exaggerating their wealth and status in an attempt to impress the other.

The play satirizes the superficiality and competitiveness of middle-class values, social pretension and the relentless pursuit of status.

The stage will dazzle with flamboyant costumes, infectious energy and a zest for life that turns the ordinary into extraordinary.
