Go Gently

Go Gently

Written and Directed by Jonathon Crewe

Don’t get old. Get even

Ruth Rock, an ex-filmstar in her 70s, self-isolated in her country house on the fringes of London, is forced to re-evaluate her life when she takes in her ex's new, and much younger, girlfriend during her convalescence.

Award-winning writer-director Jonathon Crewe (CounterFiction) has teamed up with the University of West London to put on Go Gently; an original and contemporary comedy-drama that aims to challenge stereotypes of aging and ageism.

The play comes out of research by the University of West London for the Centre for Ageing Better around the representation of older age in British film. See this report for more details: https://ageing-better.org.uk/sites/default/files/2023-02/cast-aside-full-report.pdf

CounterFiction are an award-winning creative team who tell stories that provoke, entertain and challenge the status quo. Our previous off-West End productions have been supported by organisations such as Arts Council England and The Culture Capital Exchange, and have garnered an Offcomm and a Standing Ovation Award nomination. Our films have been exhibited internationally, winning awards for Directing and Acting.
