Course: QLab Intensive

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Ready to develop your QLab skills and take your show to the next level? Using Drayton Arms’ brand new 12 speaker Surround-Sound rig, James Denny takes you on a deep dive into some of QLab’s many features and tricks, including getting the most from timeline groups, microphone cues and audio effects, networking to control lighting desks, relays and other systems, streamdeck control, and projection mapping basics.

COURSE DETAILS

This course will run from 11am-6pm, with a 1-hour lunch break and lunch included in the cost!

Bring your own MacBook with QLab installed to get the most out of the course. The course fee includes a day’s QLab license hire. 

YOUR COURSE LEADER

James Denny is a multi-disciplinary theatre technician and designer and production/site/stage manager, and Technical Manager at Drayton Arms Theatre.

James spent his formative years as an unofficial (but busy!) audio visual tech and has balanced community theatre and events with a railway career ever since. Over the last few years, a series of fortunate events has seen him developing a strong involvement in professional theatre projects from Maintenance to Lighting Design to Technical Production Management and everything in between. James is active in over 6 theatres of a wide variety of scales and also the Lead for the multi-faceted Mudlark Creative crew.

Credits include production managing Janie Dee's production of Putting It Together in 2024; lighting design for Blue Stockings (Carlton Theatre Group), Animal Farm the Sequel (Talkin’ Turkey), and The Ghost Train (South Hill Park Studio);  Stage Electrician for War Horse at The New Wimbledon Theatre; and directing the new play Spring Chickens for author Jay Cundell Walker.
