Borscht. Ukrainian Soup: A Taste of Home
When life takes unexpected turns and the world you have been building collapses, what keeps you going? In the darkest of times, one dish can bring warmth, hope, and support.
Borscht: Ukrainian soup, A Taste of Home carries the strength of the roots and the spirit of family. There are real stories of people who faced the war and lived through occupation in Ukraine, people who found out their own recipes for survival.
This play is not only about Ukrainians, but about the whole world. Every nation, culture, and family has its own special dish that brings people together around one table. Borscht becomes a universal symbol, which, like in our play, can change and even save lives in the most challenging times.
And what is your Borscht? What recipe that keeps you warm and brings you home, no matter where you are?
The performance is based on the play by Maryna Smilianets, originally titled Borscht. Great-Grandmas’ Recipes For Survival.
